"From Tanzania to the World: The Rise and Reign of Diamond Platnumz in the Music Industry"


Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, as Diamond Platnumz, is a Tanzanian bongo flava recording artist, dancer, philanthropist, and businessman. He is the founder and CEO of WCB Wasafi Record Label, Wasafi Bet, and Wasafi Media. Diamond has amassed a large fanbase throughout East and Central Africa. He became the first African-based musician to receive 900 million views on YouTube.

He began his music career in 2006, at the age of 18, while selling clothing. He utilized the money he made from the clothing company to produce songs, finally releasing his debut single, "Toka Mwanzo," a Bongo flava song blended with R&B. The song did not do well commercially.

In 2010, his breakout hit single "Kamwambie" was released. The song earned three Tanzania Music Awards. He then released his debut studio album, Kamwambie, the same year (2010).

In 2014, Platnumz received a BET Award nomination for Best International Act: Africa.

Platnumz has regularly worked with filmmaker Director Kenny on his music videos. Kenny's music video for "Waah" received a nomination for "Best African Video" at the 2021 All Africa Music Awards.

Waah is one of Tanzania's most popular music videos on YouTube, with over 100 million views. 

In 2022, he published First Of All (FOA), a 10-track extended playlist featuring prominent musicians like as Zuchu

First Of All, has been characterized as a combination of R&B, Bongo Flava, and Afrobeats . To promote the EP, Diamond Platnumz for the first time in Tanzania presented all song videos from the FOA EP at the cinema. 

In 2023, Diamond Platnumz released his second collaboration with Congolese musician Koffi Olomide,


marking his second feature with Koffi following Waah, which was released in 2020.
In 2023, Diamond Platnumz won his third MTV EMA as the Best African Act.

PERSONAL LIFE

Diamond is a Muslim by faith. He has two children with his previous partner, Ugandan entrepreneur Zari Hassan, who lives in South Africa.He became a father for the third time, to Tanzanian model Hamisa Mobetto.


 Diamond was dating Kenyan beauty and artist Tanasha Donna in 2019


, and they had one son, born in October. The two have now split, with Tanasha Donna returning to her home country of Kenya.

Diamond is the cousin of Tanzanian socialite/DJ Romeo Abdul Jones,


also known as Romy Jones. He also has two sisters: musician Queen Darleen

and entrepreneur and socialite Esma Platnumz.

In 2010, he backed Tanzania's major ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), and its presidential candidate, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete.

He has published further songs with lyrics that encourage CCM, such as "CCM Tusonge Mbele" ("CCM Let's Move Forward").
Diamond Platnumz sponsored and performed at Raila Odinga's campaign event in Kasarani on August 6, 2022, only three days before the election.

Diamond has also been reported and verified on several occasions that he is dating fellow WCB Wasafi label member, Zuchu.
